Fantastic Beasts is Just Fantastic!

I was a little skeptical about this movie, I thought it was going to be another attempt by JK Rowling to make more money but I was extremely surprised by this movie and this might be one of the better films of the year if not one of the best.

Let’s talk about the story first, the story unveils with Newt, a magician from England from got expelled from Hogwarts coming to America and accidently letting loose all of these creatures and he goes on an expedition around New York to find them with the help of an ex-Auror, a mind reader and a no-mage (Muggle).

If you do have the moola, do watch it in MX 4D as the experience is enthralling, to say the least. As a Potter, this might be one of the greatest film experiences of your life as your seats move up and down and travel into the magical world that we all know and love. That being said, if you just want to watch this movie on-screen and not be totally immersed or you’re not the big Potter fan, MX 4D is probably not for you.

Script wise, I really like it, it was seemingly interesting and move along pretty well and I think everything from plot to dialogue flowed effortlessly. The characters have been wonderfully created that leave wanting to know more. The characters that leave you wanting to know everything about them and Rowling’s lone script-writing effort here has proved extremely effective.

As far as cinematography goes, it was the usual Potter franchise with all the action on screen keeping you on high alert all the time, so nothing new or improved there. We know that there will be 4 more films in this franchise according to Rowling so if the sequels can hold a candle to this one, we’re in for another magical ride.

One thing that I thought was interesting is that even though the film is kept relatively light unlike the Potter films, there are sequences of darkness like Creedence being lashed by his mother and Creedence who later becomes this evil force called an Obscurus, so I think that is pure cinematic gold.

My take on the film is that it is pure entertainment while maintaining a beautiful script in its intricacies. One film that you need to watch.  – 4.5/5
