We’ve heard a lot of things coming out from the standing rock protests. We have seen heights of human rights violations with protestors being put in dog cages, maced and being targeted with rubber bullets but things are changing and a small part of humanity is restored in knowing that there are people who will stand for what is right.
A few days ago Obama had denied the final drilling permit for the North Dakota access pipeline. This was a great day for protestors and this was followed by veterans of the US military apologizing to the Native Americans for treating them so badly over the years.
This is in no way this is a total win, the oil companies will try to find a loophole and make sure that the pipeline continues and with Trump in power now, how will this situation play out? Trump has taken a stand on being pro-fossil fuel throughout his business and political career.
The treatment of Native Americans has been tragic. Not only has their land been taken away from them but they were slaughtered mercilessly and are treated like second class citizens. Think about this for a second, “Americans” came to a country with people living on it and just took it. America is always praised about human rights and they have taken the global progressive movement forward but at the same time but America was founded on violence and entitlement.
It is always important to understand most history books throughout America was written by a white man and that’s the perspective of the world most of us still rely on till today.
